Much of my work takes place in Europe where I spend the majority of my time representing the interests of Irish and European citizens in the European Parliament.
I am aligned with ALDE, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, which comprises MEPs from 22 Member States. ALDE stands for individual liberty, a free and dynamic business culture, economic and social solidarity, sustainability in taking actions, protection of the environment and respect and tolerance for cultural, religious and linguistic diversity.
I sit on a number of committees in the European Parliament. I also take a particular interest in issues and initiatives concerning volunteering, carers and cancer care.
My normal work programme is to travel to Brussels or Strasbourg on a Sunday or Monday and return on Thursday evening or Friday. I am in my office in Sligo on Friday and Saturday dealing with a huge range of issues raised by constituents from throughout the North and West constituency.
I also hold clinics in my office and conduct one to one meetings which constituents have organised with my full time staff. I also hold clinics throughout the constituency which I try to co-ordinate with visit to areas or other business. Apart from advertised clinics you can arrange a meeting with me by contacting my office in Sligo. Contact details
