An information meeting to focus on the urgent need to extend the Breast Cancer Screening Programme to the North West will be held in the Innisfree Hotel, Sligo on Monday next, June 13th at 9p.m.

Organised by Sligo/Leitrim TD Marian Harkin, the meeting is geared to maintaining pressure on the Government to provide the lifesaving breast check service at regional level.  “Many lives would be saved by providing a more accessible breast check service and it is totally unacceptable that the Government has not fulfilled its promise to deliver this vital service on a nationwide basis”, Marian Harkin said.

The meeting will be addressed by:-

Deirdre O’Connell – Europadonna (European Breast Cancer Coalition)

Jean Gallagher, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Breast Care, Sligo General

Patricia Fitzsimons, Consultant Radiologist, Sligo General

Helen Fitzsimons, G.P.

The purpose of this meeting is to raise awareness about Breast Cancer Screening and to support the campaign to ensure the availability of Breast Cancer Screening in the North West.
