Great Debt owed to emigrants - Harkin tells Sligo Assoc. in London

Irish emigrants in the period from the 1940s to the 1970s had through their remittances home been one of the main builders of the foundations for the growth of the Celtic Tiger.   This was the view expressed by Independent TD and MEP Marian Harkin when she spoke at the 50th anniversary dinner of the Sligo Peoples Association in the Irish Centre, Camden Town on Saturday, December 3rd.
