Lisbon Treaty - McEvaddy & Ganley challenged on tax issue.
The question had to be asked of Ulich McEvaddy and Declan Ganley what part of the word veto they do not understand when they persist in misrepresenting the corporation tax position of Ireland should the Lisbon Treaty be endorsed by the Irish people.
The question was asked by Independent MEP Marian Harkin who this week in the European Parliament put a question to the Slovenian Presidency on the issue of maintaining a national veto on taxation matters.
“The Slovenian Presidency’s answer was unequivocal that every member state’s veto power will continue after the Lisbon Treaty and the current method of decision making will continue”, she said. She called for opponents of the Lisbon Treaty to engage in debate based on fact and to discontinue the campaign of misrepresentation on the issue of taxation.
