A programme which advertises job vacancies and CV’s for individuals affords an opportunity for those seeking employment within the EU and counters criticism of the government which has been accused of encouraging emigration.

This was stated by Independent MEP Marian Harkin in Strasbourg today, Thursday, November 21st referring to the adoption of a €815 million programme designed to fight unemployment, poverty and social exclusion in the EU.

She said:- “As spokesperson for the ALDE Group of Democrats & Liberals I welcome the funding of the European Job Mobility Portal which focuses on cross border employee mobility. It helps people aged between 19 and 30 to find work in another EU member state. Today there are 898,656 job vacancies indicated, 1.2 million CVs available and 32, 235 employers from 32 European countries registered.

“This programme supports people who are looking for a job in another EU country and the Government is correct in making this opportunity available for those who may be interested in it. Under the new programme cross border partnerships can be created between employment services, advising mobile works and employers in cross border regions and thus better co-ordinating supply and demand.
